SamoutosF

Role in the project: Christos Sammoutos is responsible for the design and analysis of the beam-down linear Fresnel concentrator.

Brief Biography: Mr. Christos Sammoutos is a Mechanical Engineer graduated from the School of Mechanical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens. He has an integrated master’s degree in mechanical engineering with excellence (9.23/10). Currently, he is a PhD candidate at the “Laboratory of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Solar Energy” of the Thermal Engineering Department of the same school, and his doctoral research, titled “Utilization of solar thermal energy in industrial applications and in the power generation sector”, deals with beam-down concentrating solar power systems. In particular, he designs beam-down secondary reflectors for linear Fresnel collectors, and also he investigates the beam-down collectors in optical and thermal terms. Furthermore, his has authored more than ten publications in scientific journals (14 publications) and participated in four scientific conferences. As a member of the laboratory, he participates in national and European funded research projects as a researcher. In particular, his experience in national funded projects includes two projects, and regarding European funded projects four projects in the fields of buildings, thermochemical heat upgrade technologies, and education. Additionally, he assists in teaching courses offered by the laboratory at the School of Mechanical Engineering, such as “Solar Energy” and “Thermal Behavior of Buildings,” as well as supervising laboratory sessions and diploma theses.
