Dr. Panagiotis Lykas
Mechanical Engineer
Role in the project: Dr. Panagiotis Lykas is responsible for the modelling, analysis, and simulations of the thermal energy storage unit.
Brief Biography: Dr. Panagiotis Lykas has a PhD in the development of energy production and storage systems from renewable sources from the School of Mechanical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Athens, Greece. He has an integrated master’s degree in mechanical engineering, specialising in energy and thermal engineering from the same school. As a post-doctoral researcher, he participates in research projects at NTUA. At the same time, he is an associate researcher at the Chemical Process and Energy Resources Institute (CPERI) of the Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH), Athens, Greece, where he participates in research projects. His academic and research interests include renewable energy systems, energy storage, thermodynamic cycles, heat pumps, and industrial waste heat recovery systems. He has published articles in scientific journals, proceedings of international conferences, and book chapters. Moreover, he serves as a reviewer for Elsevier, MDPI, Taylor & Francis, and Springer journals, as well as a guest editor of special issues in scientific journals. Finally, he has received the award of the “Dimitris N. Chorafas” Foundation for doctoral students with mature and high-impact research work.
